I’m not alone here. I’m a bit tripped out. My pal Sasinak’s kid sister Lividviv is getting married tomorrow. Viv has found herself a fine young gentleman to meet her at the end of the aisle, and I couldn’t be happier for her. I am going to be grinning like an idiot all day.
A few years ago Lividviv was hard pressed for male companionship. She spent a little while in the company of a fellow from the antipodes, but he was such a mess that it didn’t work out very well. It’s hard to feel compassion for someone who’s constantly pissing and moaning about his sad state. He didn’t seem to do much to alleviate his suffering, and it was rubbing off on everyone around him. The moral of the story remains the same: look for support from your friends, but don’t burden them with a lack of self reliance. Pull up your own socks.
Lividviv’s current amour is a completely different kinda guy. He’s an intelligent, well spoken fellow. From what I’ve seen of him, he adores his fiance. He doesn’t seem like one to complain about his current state and possesses enough self reliance to keep trying. He’s an admirable guy, and I assured Lividviv when we shared dinner last January that she had the company of the real deal. He has to be cool. He’s from my hometown.
I’ve been around the block a few times now, and I’ve seen a few relationships that have seemed like they might work, and a few others that were obviously going to stand the test of time. We’ve all seen a few train-wrecks. This one seems certain to succeed. The two of them share a lot of interests yet they have enough differences to keep them from boring each other. That’s important. I’m glad PJ and I aren’t clones of each other.
Lividviv has bagged the ideal man as far as I can tell, and tomorow is going to be a grand day. Ring the bells loudly.
